Senior Leadership Team
Our Senior Leadership staff are multi talented and focused individuals who are experienced in all aspects of guidance work, project planning and management.
We work in partnership with many organisations locally and nationally, providing invaluable and expert support. We work together to provide great services and sound solutions and packages for all our customers.
Nicola Newman (Chief Executive)
Nicola Newman, Chief Executive, joined Ansbury in 2015 to lead the next stage of our development as a social enterprise and charity for the benefit of all young people and adults. Nicola has an extensive Director and Non-Executive background in recruitment and strategic communication in the education, IT and sport industries. Nicola has worked across the public, voluntary and private sectors, most recently operating at a global and national level for UK Anti-Doping, a central government funded agency protecting sport.
Carolyn Hewitt (Director of Services)
Carolyn is a qualified guidance practitioner with 36 years experience in the advice and guidance field. She joined Dorset County Council Careers Service in 1977, subsequently working for Dorset Careers and Connexions across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole and worked her way up through these organisations to become Area Manager in Poole in 2004. Having lived and worked in the area all her life, she has developed strong working relationships with partners and has an extensive knowledge of local opportunities and a thorough understanding of the needs of local people, especially young people, parents and employers. She is committed to providing high quality services to individuals combined with a clear focus on meeting targets and contract requirements.
Julie Painter (HR Business Partner)
Julie has a Diploma in Personnel Management from Thames Valley University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She has many years of experience as a HR Generalist. For the last 19 years Julie has worked for Ansbury Guidance ensuring a quality and timely HR service to staff and managers as well as managing the recruitment, selection and retention of new talent to enhance the business as it moves forward. Julie also leads on Health and Safety and Learning and Development.
Julia Dustan (Director of Finance and Commercial)
Julia is a qualified Management Accountant with a wide range of industry experience who is responsible for the Finance and Commercial contracts for Ansbury. She joined the organisation 9 years ago as a Systems Accountant before becoming Finance Manager for Ansbury. Julia trained with RS Components part of the Electrocomponents Plc distribution industry then was promoted to the RS International division setting up and reviewing accounting practices for new and acquired businesses outside the UK. She then moved to Siemens Traffic business based in Poole working as the Manufacturing Accountant and then for the Traffic Engineering business before becoming a freelance business accountant for small to medium businesses.

We are privileged to have proactive and dedicated directors who enhance our Senior Leadership Team and take an active role in company business.
Tom Grainger (Chairperson)
Tom retired as CEO of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council in 2011, having had a long and distinguished career with local government. A disciple of strong finance and good governance controls, he is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and a mathematics graduate. Tom is also clerk to Chesil Trust (a charity supporting young or disabled people in sailing), a non-executive director of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and a member of the independent Audit Committee for Dorset Police.
A drug development specialist within the pharmaceutical sector, Tina has held Senior Management roles with global blue chip organisations. With over 50 academic publications, Tina holds a BSc, PhD (in cancer causation) and an MBA. She is past Chair of The Institute of Clinical Research where her focus was developing professionals and raising standards for the membership.
Eric McDonnell, the new Chair of the Audit Committee, spent his career in finance in various manufacturing industries qualifying as a chartered management accountant, and ending as the director of finance in a number of divisions of Siemens. Experience includes finance, tendering and acquisitions and mergers.
Pete Caldwell spent his working life in adult education with the Workers' Educational Association teaching, organising and developing new programmes as a Director, including lead responsibility for the South West region. Peter is passionate about the importance of high quality adult education, and guidance, in helping people change and improve their lives, providing new chances for those with a negative experience of education first time round.
Gareth Griffiths has worked in recruitment for 15+ years in various sectors, including health, public sector and the charitable sector. He is keen to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enter the workplace with the right education and skills. He hopes to use his skills and experience to help broker new relationships with employers.
Kay Williams is a Human Resources specialist and Director of her own business. She has experience of working in a broad range of organisations and has developed a strong interest in career management through her work on several projects focusing on recruiting and developing people. Kay recognises the importance of young people finding careers that focus on their strengths and enable them to make the most of their working lives.
