What do you study?
I studied Human Sciences at Exeter University.
Why did you want to do an internship?
I wanted to gain experience working for an organisation that helps people, as this is something I’m passionate about.
What kind of things do you do in the internship?
My job involves gathering feedback on people’s experiences on the Face Forward project. I’ve made a questionnaire to interview participants and have arranged visits over the phone and in person to speak with them. I’ve also had the chance to sit in on client meetings, help to collect information for a company report and organise video interviews, so lots of different things!
What do you enjoy about the internship?
I’ve really enjoyed the variation in my internship, it’s given me the chance to work with people from different Ansbury offices and learn a lot about the different parts of the organisation. Getting to talk to such a range of people is something that I’ve also really enjoyed.
What has your internship taught you?
Doing an internship is a great way to gain really important skills for future jobs. I’ve learnt how to communicate effectively with a range of people, prioritise my work and manage my time. It’s given me more confidence in a work environment!
How will the internship help you in the future?
Doing this internship has given me a lot of transferable skills that I can use in future jobs. It also looks really good on your CV and gives you an advantage over other applicants.
Any tips for getting the most out of your internship?
If you’re not busy, ask around and offer to help people. Taking a proactive approach can help you to learn new things and develop more skills.
What do you want to do next?
Now I’ve finished my internship I’m planning on doing a Masters in Bristol and working alongside it.
Would you recommend an internship?
Yes, definitely! Doing an internship is a really valuable experience and can help to prepare you for work in the future. It helps to give you experience in the area you might like to work in, and being paid is an added bonus!
