Mentor Post - Project Refocus
Exciting times here at Bourne Digital HQ, we are currently working hard on a new 12-week course which we hope to start recruiting for in July and begin in August. The course will be predominantly online, with weekly zoom calls on different topics to help our clients gain basic computer skills and digital knowledge. I can’t say much more than that at this stage, but we will be updating you further over the coming weeks. If there is anything you would like to see in a 12-week basic computer/ digital course, please get in we’d love to hear from you.
We have also nailed down the devices and the data packages we will be loaning to clients alongside the 12-week course. There will also be a few places for those who have devices but are still unsure how to use them. The full criteria for those who can apply to be a part of the course will be published soon.
This week I also had a referral from a new source http://www.dorsetrec.org.uk/ (Dorset Race Equality Council) based in Bournemouth, they have an interesting topical blog you can check it out here. They also have a fabulous resource page that lists all the community groups in Dorset who work with, represent and support people from ethnic minority backgrounds living in Dorset. Well worth a look!
We are always on the lookout for new partners who would like to refer their clients into us. If that sounds like you, please call 01202 677557 and make an appointment, and we will call you back.
For those of you considering a new job do have a look at our jobs page or if you are unsure of your next move I can highly recommend the NCS (National Careers Service), Sarah previously spoke about them in her last post. Alternatively, you can book a telephone call with the Skills and Learning Job Club, who are one of our partners, they also have some useful job related resources on their site. And don’t forget if you live in Bournemouth and are aged 19 or over and struggling with basic digital or online tasks, we can help., Get in contact on 01202 677557, and we will call you back.
That’s all from me this week, but hopefully next week I’ll be able to update you further on our new 12-week basic computer and digital skills course for those living in Bournemouth.
Take care and stay safe.
