Once again, because of Covid-19, this week has been another week of targeting new online audiences, within the BCP area and try to reach as many people as possible. We have been monitoring the most common areas of digital skills people could be lacking and need help with.

Our findings have been people need help with:

  • Keeping personal information safe and protecting yourself online
  • Choosing the right program for a task and how to use them
  • Uploading documents online
  • Organising and storing files
  • Watching entertainment using the internet

We have also been chatting with the NCS (National Careers Service), where we have had our own careers interviews.

The NCS offers impartial advice for all your needs to get prepared for or change jobs. Each Interview is focused and led by you, the customer. Your background information is gathered on current skills, qualifications and experience which helps the advisor to explore career ideas or help you identify others. This could be achieved using methods such as, careers questionnaires, where you answer questions about, within a job role, what you like or dislike doing. Based on these answers it gives the adviser a starting point to work from showing occupational areas that you may be interested in. NCS can also help with creating new CV’s or updating and tailoring CV’s, preparation for interviews and retraining/learning new skills.
