Chloe's experience at Crumbs

By Chloe Creed

1st November 2017

Hi, I’m Chloe, one of the Face Forward apprentices in the Poole locality. I started at Ansbury Guidance four months ago. Before starting this apprenticeship, I was at sixth form doing a double A-level in Business Studies. I’ve always been motivated to care for people and help people who may have gone through similar situations I have. By sharing with other people my experiences, I feel that I can make a difference to their lives, so that they can feel like they aren’t going through this alone.Chloe at crumbs experience

So far on Face Forward I’ve had a lot of shadowing and work experience. My most recent work experience was at one of our partners, the Crumbs Project. The Crumbs project provides support and professional development opportunities for mixed-ability young adults, this can be through vocational training and work experiences in catering, administration and housekeeping, as well as job seeking support.

As soon as I arrived, I got straight into baking in the kitchen and helping prepare for the buffet and orders which Crumbs had received. I felt settled in very quickly and felt part of the Crumbs community as all the trainees were very welcoming! It was remarkable to see everyone smiling, so motivated and enjoying what they do!

I came away from the Crumbs project feeling inspired and a strong willingness to carry on helping people in the community. This work experience has helped me to improve as a person and to understand disabilities and learning difficulties in a different light.

Face Forward is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund.
